Casual Eats; Katz’s Deli, NYC

A New York institution that you simply cannot miss.

Step into a world of culinary history and tradition at Katz's Delicatessen, an iconic establishment in the heart of New York City's Lower East Side. Since 1888, Katz's has been serving up some of the best Jewish deli fare in the city, earning a reputation as a must-visit destination for food lovers from near and far.

One of the hallmarks of Katz's Deli is its legendary pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, overflowing with tender, juicy meat that is an explosion of flavour. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, from the smoky richness of the pastrami to the savory tang of the corned beef, all sandwiched between slices of fresh rye bread.

But Katz's is more than just sandwiches. The menu boasts a variety of classic deli dishes, including matzo ball soup, knishes, and latkes, each prepared with the same attention to detail and quality that has made Katz's a New York institution.

Stepping inside Katz's is like taking a trip back in time, with its vintage decor and bustling, lively atmosphere. The walls are adorned with photos and memorabilia that tell the story of this storied establishment, adding to the sense of history and nostalgia that permeates the space.

We indulged in a classic Pastrami sandwich and the amazing staff also made a vegetarian (all cheese, nobody can complain there) sandwich. The portions are beyond generous, we had half for lunch and had the other half later as a snack. Whether you're a local looking for a taste of home or a tourist seeking an authentic New York experience, Katz's Delicatessen is a must-visit NYC institution.
